Seminar "Cybersecurity and Data Protection "

On December 9, between 14.30h and 16.30h at the Law Faculty of the Universidade Nova de  Lisboa, it will be held a  a seminar on the State and the Study of the Law devoted to the themes of Cybersecurity and Data Protection.

The seminar is held in English and the only speaker is  Manuel Melo, candidate to PhD in Law and Security. Comments will be made by Eduardo Vera-Cruz Pinto, Professor of Law Faculty of Universidade de Lisboa and Director of the newly created Legal Research Centre on the Cyberspace. The moderation of the debate is in charge of Maria Eduarda Gonçalves, ISCTE Professor.

Sharing some of the results of the scientific research carried out within the PhD programme, Manuel Melo will present a new model of understanding of security activities in the cyberspace, reflecting simultaneously on the importance of data protection for cybersecurity in a Digital Society.

Framing the different phenomena of cyberterrorism, cybercrime, the cyber espionage and cyberwarfare an integrated model of cybersecurity, it will propose a conceptual systematization of illegal activities in the cyberspace, considering the data protection system as the lowest common denominator to all cybersecurity activities.
