A workshop on Children and Crimes on the Internet was held today at the Prosecutor General’s Office in Lisbon. The same was opened by the Prosecutor General of the Republic, Lucília Gago. Prosecutors, as well as other actors in the promotion and protection system and the juvenile justice system attended.

Practitioners and university researchers, as well as the Family, Children and Youth Office and the Cybercrime Office delivered presentations.

This event served as an announcement and launching session of the action plan of the Prosecutor General’s Office "Children and Crimes on the Internet", which aims to improve the capacity of the Public Prosecution Service to deal with the phenomena occurring with the use of communications networks, when they are a criminal infringement, or are practiced by young people between the ages of 12 and 16 or, in any case, victimize children and young people. This plan aims to improve the capacity of the Public Prosecution Service to combat phenomena occurring through the use of social networks and involving children and young people, both as victims and as perpetrators.
