There are more and more crimes committed in a virtual environment.

Thus, the use of technologies for the practice of crimes is a part of daily life and each day it becomes more sophisticated

Hence, combating this type of crime requires specific knowledge in the field of informatics, with specialization playing a crucial role in criminal investigation and prosecution.

A more effective response to these crimes of our era requires the Public Prosecution to adapt its organizational structure.

In this context, the Prosecutor General determined the creation of the National Network of Specialized Prosecutors in Cybercrime and Digital Evidence.

This structure is coordinated by the Cybercrime Office within the Prosecutor General’s Office, based on an informal network that has been in operation since 2011 and includes prosecutors from all the “Comarcas”.

In this context, concrete investigations on cybercrime and other crimes committed in a digital environment should preferably be concentrated on these prosecutors, thus favouring specialization in this area.
